Well, it came and went. Surprisingly calm too. Usually when I go to one of the Christmas parties that my mother-in-law throws, it get pretty wild. (Not everyone-dancing-naked-in-the -middle-of-the-street type of wild, but usually there are some interesting episodes. Not this year.
This year the most exciting event what my wife’s cousin coming in as Santa Clause. I thought that he did a great job, and the kids loved him. I did have the worst picture in my life taken of me with him. Wow, I wonder what happened. It looked like I was in the middle of a serious facial tick, or stroke, or maybe a huge sneeze. Scary.
Christmas day was nice too. We opened our presents at my in-law’s house, and then went to my parent’s place. I wish that I would have had the money to spend on my wife’s gift sooner, so that I wasn’t so rushed with it. I got her three (well four) things: The Movies (the fun gift), a necklace (the nice gift), and I had her bunny slippers resoled and repaired and cleaned (the sweet gift). It was the slippers that I wish that I would have had more time on. I got them for her 3 Christmases (now 4) ago. It was our first Christmas together. They look like real bunnies. I picked them up as a gag gift, but I think that she likes them better than the ring I got for her that year. Anyway, they were showing their age. She wears them all the time, including outside. As a consequence, they had a rip in them, the bottoms of them were almost worn off, and they were dirty. They still need a little stitching since the shoe repair place glued the hold together, but that is not the same. Also, they could use to go to a professional dry-cleaner, since there are some stains that I couldn’t get out. All in all, I think that she liked it. I know that she liked The Movies, since she stayed up all Monday night playing. All night. I woke up with here on the computer playing still! Not that I can talk, I played X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse for like 3 hours yesterday.
Soon it will be time to take down the lights for another year. I always hate to see them go, but to paraphrase Stephen King, the light is all the brighter when one expects a coming darkness.
