Okay, my last post just got me thinking of something that bugs me, and I am going to get it out. (again) I am sick to death of going to the movie theaters where the prices are constantly going up and the concession prices are outrageous ($5 for 40oz of COKE? It costs you like $0.03!!!), and before the movie starts sitting though what AMC calls its Pre-Show Countdown. Also known as a ton of commercials. Its like 10 minutes, and sometimes showing the same ones twice! I am getting really tired of it. If they are making all of this new revenue off the commercials that they are showing, why am I paying to see the movie? Why isn’t the price dropping? Its greed, and it is annoying! I hate advertising. I like product information, but I can not stand having ads shoved down my throat. If anyone in the movie business is out there listening, hear me very well, I beg:

More advertising in theaters makes me not want to see movies in the theaters!

I serious am a lot less interested in seeing a film in theaters now a-days. With advances in home entertainment, they better realize very quickly that their days are numbered, and if they are not providing more value than just being the first source for entertainment content (and I bet this will change soon too…), then they are going to quickly see that ticket sales are going to die off.

I am the customer. I should be catered to. Provide me value, and I will give you money for it. Hassle me, and I go elsewhere. It’s that simple.

It’s funny. This post is almost prophetic. The prices have gone up more since then, and the commercials are more widely used, and as a result I haven’t been to a movie in a while.

    Well said!
