We arrived here Tuesday evening on a Spirit flight. The aircraft was a bit small: only 5 seats per row, and a passenger cabin only about 200 ft long. I didn’t mind, but my wife was a bit uncomfortable. I did all that I could to help by giving her the isle seat and just comforting her. She wasn’t panicking or anything, just not happy. I, on the other hand, loved it. Everything is so beautiful from the sky. I especially liked coming over the city with all the lights. The physical sensations were cool too. One thing that made the flight so nice was the flight-attendant that was on the mic. He was very funny.
After landing we took a bus that didn’t quite take us to my wife’s godmother’s place. She wound up picking us up though we should have walked the 10 blocks instead since it took her a while to get there.
We talked for maybe half an hour and went to bed.
The next morning we went to the Natural History Museum. I liked it, and would have liked to have spent more time there, but my wife was getting board. We then walked around Times Square. We started to get in line for Rush tickets for Wicked, but my wife didn’t want to wait. We also almost got tickets for another show, but she didn’t really want to see another show. (It sounds a bit nuts, but she was having hormonal difficulties.) We wound up just walking around and going in Toys ‘R’ Us. Man, it was huge. The animatronic tyrannosaurus rex they had there was impressive.
Today, we went to see the Statue of Liberty. We didn’t make it. When we got there we found that tomorrow, we will be able to go inside it. Instead, we went to the park around Clinton Castle. There were some great war memorials there. Another nice thing was a meditation maze. I had a nice time walking it. Afterward we went to the Jewish Heritage Museum. At first we debated going in. I was worried that I would bore my wife again. The admission price of $5 sold it: if it sucked then we could leave.
It didn’t. It was amazing! I was enthralled with the story. It has a linear format which helps to understand the Jewish culture and the Holocaust. Unfortunately, we only got to where Germany had invaded as much of Europe as it ever did and had to leave. I wish we had more time there. Since it was so late, we just walked around Lincoln Center and ate at this rice bowl restaurant. Great food!
I love it here! I really like the logical layout. I love that everything is walking distance! The subways are so convenient! I
really could see living here. I also see why people are thinner here. They walk everywhere and it is easy to get tasty, inexpensive, and healthy food. Maybe if and when my wife makes it into the Metropolitan Opera. Her singing coach thinks that she is almost ready to audition for their apprentiship program! That would be Wonderful!
Well, its time for bed. We have a ferry to catch tomorrow!
