This weekend was spent mostly at the local malls. I tried to petition for another activity, but I could not get Bionca motivated for anything else. Personally, I find malls one of the least interesting places to shop. The items that one find within are so homogenized as to only need about 5 stores to contain them, and they are also over-priced due to the outrageous prices that the mall charges for rent. Its almost enough to swear me off them completely, but for a few things. When I go shopping, I am usually looking for a specific item, or a specific type of item. Their sprawling nature makes them decidedly inconvenient in that respect. To their credit, while the merchandise is similar between stores, there is still a lot to see. As a result they are still one of the best places to go when one is undecided on a choice of purchase. Think of it as market research. Still, I would prefer to buy it somewhere else.

One of the things that we did at the mall was to visit Dana, JT, Logan, and Evan while they were in the play area. Logan is so full of energy. He was having a ball running everywhere. Evan was adorable, of course. All babies are. :)

Something strange happened though. Dana and JT asked if I would be Evan’s Godfather. I was very shocked by this. Not because I thought that Dana and JT didn’t consider me a friend, but because I know that Dana doesn’t understand nor agree with my theological beliefs. Granted, the traditional role of a godparent as a spiritual advisor has been deemphasized, but it still took me a bit to respond. Now that is not to say that while my beliefs may differ from theirs, that I would not be able to guide him in moral and ethical matters. I have quite a lot to say on those topics, as I believe very strongly in living by a strong set of ethics.

I hope that they didn’t take my hesitation as reluctance. I was just throwen off guard. It was a nice surprise though.

I hate malls too, almost never go to them. On;y if I absolutely have to which thank goodness is very rare. I don’t like shopping much either ;) . That might have something to do with it too.

You’re gonna make an awesome godfather.

    Congrats hon.

    *hugs*
