Again, a late update…

Well, I mentioned how frustrating it was the weekend before Bionca’s and my anniversary, but after that night, everything was good. Tuesday, the actual day. Since Bionca had rehearsal that evening, I didn’t have much hope of seeing her. So, I decided to go to a local florist to get her some flowers which I would deliver to the theatre. On my lunch break, I went and found a bouquet of mauve roses that I knew that she would like, and purchased them. After talking to the clerk, and since the florist was so close to my office, I decided to leave them there, and pick them up after work.

Leave 5 minutes early to make sure that I get there before they close, and get a head start on traffic. Sounds like a plan. Unfortunately, upon arrival, I am dismayed to be greeted with a locked door and a sign that simply reads, “Out on Delivery. We will return in an hour.” Great. Now there is only one problem… When did they leave? Since they close at 5, I was worried that they had left sometime around 4:30 and wouldn’t bother coming back at all. Or maybe they left at 4:45, and they were coming back, but I would still have 45 minutes to wait.

While I waited, someone came drove up, but unfortunately they went into the tax preparation place at the back of the florist building. At first, I didn’t think anything of this, but then I figured that this person might be related, since I know that the florist is a family-run business. When I looked back there, I saw that they were closed, and that it was a house. I immediately felt like I had intruded by looking in their door, and went back to my car. Later, I figured that since it is a place of residence, it was very likely that they would know when the owner of the florist would return, and decided to ask. Then I got there, and smelled dinner cooking, and figured that this would be rude, so once again, I turned back.

Darn my sense of impropriety.

Well, they returned at about 5:15. They apologized for the inconvenience. Turned out to not be a big deal after all.

I then drove to the theatre, and I was invited inside the green room, but Bionca wasn’t there yet. I looked for her in the usual spots, and found that she had gone home to iron some costumes. I went back to the green room and decided to wait in there, since there was a class in the house. When Bionca first came in, she was completely oblivious to the fact that I was there. She looked like she had had a long day, but after the put down her stuff and saw me with the vase of flowers next to me at the make-up table, her face lit up, and she practically ran to me to me and gave me a kiss. She as very pleasantly surprised.

Mission Successful.

I was invited to stay, but I felt that I would be a distraction and I had a ticket for Friday, so I left soon after.

Even though I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with her, it really was a nice night.
