This past weekend was Evan’s Christening. It was basically a church service with some special attention paid to Evan. It was sort of strange standing in front of the congregation, but not exactly uncomfortable. It was a nice service. One thing that I was a bit concerned about was my role. As I have written before, it seems weird with Dana and John choosing me to be Evan’s godfather, since I do not share their faith. I would have said all of the words required, but it turned out that it wasn’t. I am very glad of that, since I believe in respecting the faith of others, and when I am required to hide mine, and say their pledges, prayers, and oaths it feels like I am mocking their faith somehow.
Evan was really well behaved. And cute. I need to get the pics off of the camera…

Jason,
I know this is late, I didn’t know you had a blog. But I was looking back and saw this. I just wanted to tell you that we chose you to be Evan’s Godfather because we know how much you love our boys and we wanted to acknowledge it. Even though I don’t understand your views I do respect you for having your views. I asked the Pastor not to ask any questions that you would have to “pretend” or “lie” about. I wanted it to be truth. I felt it was honest and we feel you were the best for this title. We know you would do anything for our family just as we would yours.

I really do feel honored that you do choose me. I was telling Bionca the other day that we need to take the boys out some time. We don’t get to do things together that often.
