I went to lunch with come co-workers to this little restaurant called Maraya which is a Meditrranean place near where I work (and near where I will live). We weren’t sure if they were really open, as there were only 2 cars there, and it wasn’t very well lit. When we went in, we were surprised with how nice it looked inside. The decor was great, and the owner/server was very friendly. It was a little strange that there was no one else in the restaurant with us. He gave us Hummus and a dessert which I do not know the name of. The prices were very reasonable (about the level of Olive Garden). The only bad thing about the place is its location. Unfortunately it is a little difficult to get to, as you have to drive past it, and go around to get into the plaza where it is, but now that we know it is there, we are going to return.
It sounds like the guy is realy trying hard to drum up business, and they are doing some neat stuff like Poker (just for fun) on Tuesdays and Belly Dancers on Thursdays. Aparently they have a Hooka Terrace there (which I am not really sure I understand) as well. The place itself is very open, so it would be great for reserving for parties and the like, and they have a full liquor license (it didn’t look like a full bar though).
I really hope that they make it. I hate seeing great small businesses like that go under from not getting enough traffic. So, if you are in the Florida Mall area, check them out at:

This restaurant kicks ASS. They make the most amazing food. Everything from the Hummus to the Tabouleh to the wrack of lamb that is to DIE for. The desserts are also amazing. Everything is made by this guy’s wife, and she makes it fresh and awesome. She even makes the baklava by her own hand. The wife is actually the owner of the place and the main cook, the nice guy you are talking about is her husband. She’s a real sweetheart too and I hate to see this place empty when its really some of the best Mediterranean food you can get.
