Since we had yet to eat, we stopped by McDonalds. The kids were happy, since they were able to play in the park, but I must say is that my belly wasn’t. Since I am trying to stay good to my low-fat diet my body isn’t used to the grease any more. So I think that I am good on McD’s for another 3 months or so.
After lunch, we went to Mount Dora, and got our tickets for the train ride. Since we had about an hour (not enough to go to the full park), we went to a little spot with a fountain and some benches where the boys could play. I also helped Logan trim his yo-yo string so that it was more his size. He played with that yo-yo all day, even though he couldn’t figure it out. (I tried to show him, but he really just wanted to throw it.)
I wonder about Evan’s not talking. I used to think that he might have a hearing problem, and I still think that me might have as much of one as me, but he can hear. Also, he doesn’t have any developmental issues as far as I can tell. I just think that he is comfortable not speaking. He doesn’t have to. Every time I tried to get him to talk and ask him things, Logan would answer for him. I think that he is just used to communicating non-verbally, and through his brother who really understands him. My guess is that the speech therapist will have no problems with him, since I think that it is just a learned behavior, and he just needs to learn that he can’t rely on communicating in the ways that he has. He does understand english after all, either that, or he is very intuitive. I think that he is just stubborn.
The train ride was a lot fun. The boys had fun playing with the seats, and I enjoyed learning some of the history. The only problem with the whole thing was that the train sways quite a bit, and Bionca was getting a bit motion sick. Even I was feeling a bit off. One thing that was pretty funny that happened was that Logan and Evan were sharing a bottle of water, and some chips, and Evan wound up getting chips in the water, so it was a bit of a mess. Bionca was pretty disgusted by it, but I just laughed. After all, it wasn’t going to hurt him. That is what kids do.
After the train ride, we had a little time so we decided to take the boys to the park. We tried to go to Gilbert Park in Mount Dora, but it is apparently closed for remodeling, so we went to Wooton Park in Tavares. The boys had fun running around there. Evan needed to be changed at this point, but he tried to use the toilet. Seems like he is ready to be potty trained (I am sure that Dana and John will be happy about that). They really had fun at the park, as there is a lot to do there for the kids.
We got a call from Dana saying that she will be getting home a bit late so after we stopped back home to get some clothes in case we went out after the party, we took the boys straight to Bionca’s mom’s place. Dana and John met us there, and while I thought that they were just going to head home, they stuck around and had a good time with the rest of us. They are part of the family, after all.
The party was pretty big, since so many of Jay’s family was there (I liked them all, by the way). They really seem like great people, and I think that her little cousin was crushing on me a bit (she’s a cute kid). Like all parties there, I had a bit of a rough time since inside was so loud that I couldn’t really interact well due to my poor hearing, and outside it was all spanish (which I still need to learn).
It was also cool to meet Gabby’s “friend.” Everyone says that he is really short, but I didn’t think so. Now, next to Gabby, sure, but that is because she is pretty tall. I would have liked to talk to him a little more, but he seemed to be concerned with something on his pda/phone. I can at least relate to that. I wonder if he was Tweeting…
I also got to talk with Jessica and Brandon for the first time since there wedding. I got to see their honeymoon photos and hear about how it went. They seemed to have a great time, and it was great to hear and see about it. Jessica’s new tattoo was beautiful, and Brandon’s new addition was great too. I love what he is doing as a composition on his arm.
Toward the end of the evening some people wanted to go to a wine bar. I was up for it, but Bionca was too tired, so we helped clean up a bit, and went home tired, but happy. It was a great day. One of the better in recent memory.
