This weekend has just been about taking things as they come. Part of that was my fault. I forgot that Bionca was going to the New Kids on the Block concert, and I was thinking that we were going to have people over for another night of board games. Once I got that straightened out, Jon and Melissa were talking about coming over, but before Bionca left, it turned out that they couldn’t, so I spent the night playing some games online, and sent a message to Chris that we were likely going to be free for the weekend. Bionca got back when I was going to sleep (about midnight) Sha’Vonne, Dana, and John came up with her. We stayed up for another hour or so and had fun while they talked about the concert.

Saturday, morning was chaotic. Bionca had failed to mention that while Jon and Melissa were unable to come up on Friday, that they were going to on Saturday, so I wound up calling and SMSing Chris and Jon until we worked up a plan that we were going to hang out with the Bushes. It was a bit frustrating because Bionca was dragging her feat about the whole thing. It turned out that she was just wiped from the night before, and while she would have liked to go see the Nielsens, she just wasn’t up for the drive, so I guess it worked out.

The plan was to go see Watchmen at 3:40 at the IMAX screen in Regal 24 Waterford Lakes.  On the way there, we ran into a bit of trouble.  Well, I should say that a bit of trouble ran into us, since as I was getting on the I-4 on-ramp the cars in front of me hit their breaks hard, and I had to follow, but the car behind me didn’t react fast enough, and he rear-ended me.  We had a hard time actually pulling over to a location that was safe, and we exchanged insurance info, but the bump was minor, and we systained no damage.  The other guy had his hood bent from the front of his car going under my bumper (low car that was tipping down because it was breaking).

Luckily, the process of doing that didn’t take too long, and we were able to get there with time to spare still, and it was a good thing, since I realized as I was pulling in to the parking lot that I had failed to put on my deororant!  Luckily, there is a Target in that plaza, and so I dropped Bionca off at the entrance to the theater, and went to get some deodorant.  The process took a lot longer than I would have liked. The traffic management at that plaza would make any civil engineer worth his/her salt weep in pain.  I made it back in time, though (and later found that Jon uses the same kind as me, and even had his in the car which would have saved me 30 minutes).

The movie itself was…  well, I am not sure.  I don’t know if I liked it.  There were elements that I liked, but there were parts that were just a bit to cheesy as well.  Ultimately, I think that the tried to be too true to (as in scene for scene) to the graphic novel, and as a result the pacing suffered.  There were just too many scenes that were way longer than they needed to be. Bionca didn’t like it because of the graphic violence that was in it (and for some other reasons).

After the movie, I actually got to meet Jon and Melissa’s friends (Phillip and Nancy), and I imediately liked them.  We decided that we were hungry, and so we went to the Macaroni Grill for dinner.  While it was a nice meal, and it was great haning out with them, it was a bit difficul for me since that resturant has a pretty open floor-plan, and as a result, it gets loud which makes it difficult to hear.  By concentrating, I generally was able to keep up though.

I really had a nice time.  Bionca was a bit aprehensive about going to dinner, because she sort of felt that we were somehow intruding, but once she got over that, we had a great time, and met some really nice people, that I hope we get to see again.
