I have written a few Applescripts for shortening URLs in the Clipboard, Firefox, and Safari. The nice thing about them is that they use Growl.  I also reference Skitch in there too for the swoosh sound. Edit to your heart’s content. I really only wrote them for me, but after Lifehacker’s article, I thought that I would share.  I ganked part of the code from several sources, and I didn’t track it, since it was for personal use; I do know that it was able to be used though. If it is your code, let me know, and I will give proper credit.

Here they are.  These are for is.gd.

Clioboard Firefox Safari

These are for j.mp (bit.ly)
Clioboard Firefox

These need to be in ~/Library/Application\ Support/Quicksilver/Actions

Once you do that, then just add them to hot-keys. I used Shift+Cmd+C for Firefox Option+Cmd+C for Safari, and Shift+Cmd+Y (Don’t ask, I don’t know why).
